What is the difference between a standard microfiber and a professional microfiber ?

Microfibre cloths have the particularity of having a linear mass of less than one decitex, i.e. 1 gram of fibre per 10km. It is composed of polyester, acrylic and/or polyamide. This mixture of materials makes it possible to create fibres the size of a hair and twice as fine as silk.

The difference between a standard microfibre and a professional quality microfibre lies in two main criteria:

  1. The percentage of polyester and polyamide. Polyester has dusting and degreasing properties, while polyamide has absorbent properties and provides softness to the cloth. Our professional microfibre cloths contain, for example, 80% polyester and 20% polyamide.
  2. Density or GSM (g/m2). This is generally between 200 and 500, depending on the function of the wipe. The lower density cloths are mainly used for cleaning windows, while the denser ones are suitable for cleaning and drying car bodies. Our microfibers have a weight of 350 g/m.There are microfibre cloths for universal use or for specific functions: drying, polishing, dusting, windows, etc.

Which microfibre cloth to choose to clean your car ?

Particularly appreciated for car and motorbike detailing, microfibre is an essential accessory for vehicle maintenance. There are several types:

Microfibre for windows: this microfibre is not necessarily dense, but its texture makes it easy to remove traces, dust and dirt.

Microfibre for dusting: microfibres with a high percentage of polyester have a strong electrostatic power and are therefore perfect for removing dust.

Microfibre for polishing: extremely soft and thick, the polishing microfibre allows the product to be spread perfectly without the risk of micro-scratches.

Drying microfibre: the main property of this microfibre is that it is very absorbent. It is also larger.

In our kits and in our shop, we offer universal microfibers that will meet all your needs.

How to care for a microfibre cloth?

When cleaning your surfaces, especially the most fragile ones, be sure to use perfectly cleaned microfibre cloths. To do this, we recommend that you machine wash your microfibre cloths at between 30 and 60°C and with a maximum spin speed of 800 rpm.

If they are very dirty, you can also soak them in hot water before putting them in the machine. Even if they are stained, do not use detergents such as bleach or fabric softener, as they will lose their hold.

Do not iron the microfibers as this will damage the fibres of the cloth. Finally, dry the cloth in the open air and not in the tumble dryer.
